John Edward Perez

PhD Student

John’s research interests involve the impacts of human-induced and environmental changes in catchment systems that drive land- and water-related environmental problems. As a part of the i-CONN Project (https://sites.durham.ac.uk/iconn-network), he focuses on developing the concept of connectivity as a framework to understand soil erosion and sediment dynamics in an agricultural catchment.  His research seeks to describe and explain sediment connectivity at different spatial and temporal scales using numerical modeling and field mapping techniques, as well as  through integrating concepts from graph theory. Further related to his research interests, his prior work involved modeling sediment-driven changes within river channels and their effects on flooding.
