As part of this year’s ARL (Academy for territorial development) Summer School, Yvonne Franz from the Urban Studies Working Group led an engaging field trip to Viertel Zwei in Vienna’s second district. This area, centered around a historically significant horse racing track, showcases a blend of completed and ongoing urban development projects, offering a compelling case study of urban transformation. Particularly notable is the balance between the interests of various public and private stakeholders, which was explored during the visit. The field trip provided participants with a hands-on perspective on the challenges and opportunities of such development processes and was a highlight of the event.
